Revolution Announce New Broken Sword Title

Revolution have today announced a new entry into the Broken Sword franchise. Broken Sword – Parzival’s Stone will be a brand new and original adventure, currently in development for PC, Console and mobile. This has been announced alongside a 4K reinvention of the original Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars. The trailer for both have been handily mixed together for Gamescom and we’re excited to know more.

The title uses a new “super-2D” visual approach, and from what we see in the new trailer it’s worked out pretty well so far. While it’s only pre-alpha footage, in-game content looks pretty ok and while character models aren’t perfect we love the environments they’ve created so far.

The new trailer shows George and Nico reunited (once again) in the beautiful French countryside. Their new adventure brings a terrifying new conspiracy set to contain Nazi treasure hunters, brutal medieval history and (because at this point, why not?) quantum physics.

Looks peaceful, eh. Not for long, I suppose.

This will be another stand-alone title, where players won’t have to have played previous entries (though we seriously recommend that you do!) to get a great experience.

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged looks to bring the original entry into the series bang up to date. This one is again being developed for PC and consoles, and interestingly also mobile devices. Reforged promised a 4K overhaul of the original, and looking at the trailer above it’s pretty clear that things will be… well, pretty clear!

This revamped version looks to keep the charm of the original

Parsival’s Stone will be the sixth entry onto the Broken Sword series. It’s a franchise that we have a huge amount of love for, as you’ll know if you caught up with our PS1 livestream on Twitch recently. This new title will see you following clues contained within an ancient manuscript. You’ll battle billion-dollar global corporations and (hopefully, at least)(Revolution’s Founder and CEO) has said “This is the start of what we’re calling the ‘Broken Sword Renaissance”, and we can only hope that this means more outings with George and Nico in future as well.

We don’t have a release date for Parzival’s Stone as yet but we’re told that the new 4K Shadow of the templars: Reforged will be with us in early 2024 and I, for one, cannot wait.

Can you wait? I can’t. These environments are to die for
